Our community of wellness started small in 1993, when Gary Young developed his first organic herb farming and distillation operation. At the time, Gary had already discovered the incredible power of essential oils, but because the quality of available oils varied so greatly, he'd been unable to fully harness their potential. While he knew that pure essential oils had the ability to produce spectacular results, he found that the chemically altered or adulterated oils on the market were often ineffective and even harmful.

My Favorite Products

1. Young Living has the largest selection of single and blended oils available.
If I’m going to stick to a specific brand, I like that it has a wide variety. This prevents me from having to “hop” to different distributors, plus it just makes it makes it cheaper (only one order, only one shipping charge).

2. Young Living owns and runs their own farms.
Since they are the ones in charge of their own farms, Young Living knows what is happening with their oils. This means they can authentically communicate this to their customers.

3. Anybody (customers or not) are allowed to visit Young Living’s farms and participate in the harvesting and distilling processes.
This is a great service of Young Living! The fact that I personally can go to one of their farms and intake the entire experience of how their essential oils are created proves that they care about quality and aren’t afraid to show it off.

4. Every batch of Young Living essential oil is rigorously tested both in-house and via third-party testing.
They don’t just test their oils for quality themselves; they also have third-party labs test it. This double ensures the purity. Plus, many doctors (as in MD’s) use and recommend it.

5. Young Living has a great Seed to Seal quality process.
Young Living has a unique Seed to Seal process. Every aspect of creating the oils–from growth to distribution–is carefully monitored to ensure a top-notch, authentically pure, quality product. Here is that 5-step process (definitions quoted from the Young Living website):

Powerful, effective essential oils come from seeds and plants that are verified for their essential oil potential by Young Living experts, partnering with university experts.

Cultivate

Our experts also travel the world visiting our co-op farms to verify that their growing and cultivating processes match our high standards. These operations provide an ongoing source for essential oils that meet Young Living’s demanding quality standards.

Distill

Combining ancient and modern techniques, Young Living is recognized as an innovator in essential oil distillation. We use a gentle, proprietary technique for steam extracting the most effective essential oils, as well as using cold pressing and resin tapping methods for select oils.

Test

Young Living never accepts diluted, cut, or adulterated oils. To guarantee consistent quality, our oils are tested in Young Living’s own internal labs, as well as in third-party facilities, to ensure that they meet stringent specifications, exceed international standards, and contain the optimal levels of natural bioactive compounds.

Seal

Young Living completes the Seed to Seal process in its 107,000-square-foot facility in Spanish Fork, Utah. Using state-of-the-art equipment, each essential oil is carefully bottled into protective amber glass bottles—ready to be shipped to members worldwide.

6. Young Living essential oils are the purest on the market.
Many essential oils available on the market are NOT anywhere near pure. Most are derived using high heat or high pressure processes, which diminishes or eliminates their therapeutic quality. Many are extracted using chemical processes, making them less effective, useless, or even harmful. Plus, just because an essential oil says “pure” or “all-natural” doesn’t necessarily mean it really is because the USDA has no regulations over how essential oils are labeled. Young Living essential oils, on the other hand, are carefully and gently processed to maintain the maximum quality and therapeutic value.

7. Young Living is a Biblically-based company.
This may not necessarily be a top point for many people, but as a Christian, it is definitely a key selling point to me. Did you know that the Bible mentions essential oils and their usage over 188 times? Essential oils are God-given medicine (Ezekiel 47:12) and since Young Living upholds the Bible’s words on healing essential oils (many of their essential oils and blends are even based off of oils and blends as found in the Bible), this makes them all the more trustworthy.
